Redhouse

Residents’ Association

Some Streets in Redhouse have already successfully set up Neighbourhood Watch schemes.

Neighbourhood Watch

We have been pleased to welcome our neighbourhood policing team to several of our meetings. One of the things we can do as residents is co-ordinate neighbourhood watch schemes for our nearest 10-12 houses.  If you think you might be interested please take a look at this booklet Welcome to Neighbourhood Watch. If you would like to volunteer please contact secretary@redhouseresidents.org marking the subject field as Neighbourhood Watch. We are aware some areas of Redhouse have already begun a Neighbourhood Watch and we would be interested in hearing your experiences, and putting co-ordinators in touch with one another.

Local Policing Team

Community Beat Manager (CBM)

Name: PC Troy Smith

Shoulder number: 1810

About me: My name is Troy Smith and I have worked for Wiltshire Police since 2003 spending most of my service as an emergency response officer in central Swindon. I am delighted to be in the role of Community Beat Manager for the Swindon North neighbourhood policing team, which serves the estates of Abbey Meads, Groundwell West, Ash Brake, St Andrew's Ridge, Redhouse and Oakhurst. I am looking forward to meeting with the local residents so we can work together to tackle those issues of concern for the community. Please feel free to email the neighbourhood policing email address with your concerns. swindonnorthnpt@wiltshire.pnn.police.uk

Did you know:

The local policing team runs a texting service which will send you a text when they are out on patrol in your area, with a number to contact them. This is especially useful if you suffer from anti-social behaviour as you can speak to someone while they are out and about in Redhouse for a speedy response. To sign up, send your details to the email address above.

Updates on Local Issues from Wiltshire and Swindon Neighbourhood Watch

1.   Since the 17 October 2010 until the 7th of February 2011 there have been a number of burglaries spread all over the North of the County. These offences are mainly day time burglaries where jewellery and other items are been stolen. and the lack of any particular pattern would suggest that more than one group of offenders are active in the county.   You are advised to ensure your home is secure and any valuable jewellery is kept locked in a properly secure safe when not in use.

2.   Trading Standards have issues concerning fraudulent collectors for the Help 4 Heroes organisation.  Wiltshire Trading Standards have received reports of misuse within the Wiltshire areas and any incidents should be reported to Consumer Direct on 08454 040506.

3.   There has also been noted an increase in thefts from sheds where cycles, copper and power tools have been the target.   You are advised to security mark all property and ensure all sheds are properly secured with a good quality lock that has a hardened steel shackle and dual locking levers.   Shed alarms and locks with an integral alarm can also be considered.
