In 2009 Phil Smith, Policy Manager in charge of the development of the Core Strategy for Swindon, addressed the RRA to talk about potential future development to the north of Tadpole Lane as part of meeting these requirements. This was part of the first round of consultation, and the council trying to make sure they were ready for future planning applications within the borough.

Then Government policy changed following the general election and the Core Strategy has been re-drafted and will be put forward for further consultation.

Crest Nicholson have an option on the land and have been interested in its potential development since 2000. This does not show up on searches when properties have been bought nearby because there is no planning application. Landowners and any agreements they might have with developers remain private until planning applications are made.
